Two Main Causes of the Water Pollution in Vietnam
There are two main causes of water pollution in Vietnam: the weakness in industrial waste-water management and the lack of civic awareness.
The Weakness in Industrial Waste-Water Management
Most of the industrial facilities did not have any waste-water treatment system and treatment plant. It was directly discharged into canals, lakes, ponds, and rivers, causing serious pollution of surface water.
The Lack of Civic Awareness
The lack of awareness among citizens, everyday, people generated a lot of trash, and they threw it directly into canals, rivers, and/or ponds. They collected water from these sources to do their laundry, wash dishes, and bathe, and then they threw the dirty water that contained detergent and shampoo directly into the canals, rivers, and/or ponds.
